Toni Woodard post #3

Monopoly is a board game in which players move around  the game-board buying or trading properties, developing their properties with houses and hotels, and collecting rent from their opponents, with the goal being to drive them all into bankruptcy leaving one person left. A monopoly is when  person or company is the only supplier of a particular commodity. There is a lack of competition and competitors.
On the box, the phrase "The most popular board game"is on it. This is a way to show potential buyers how well this game is received. The man on the box is wearing a suit and a top hat. His appearance is supposed to show that he is rich. Him holding a bag of money shows that he has money as well. The goal of this game is to make as much money as you can, so by having a bag of money on the cover lets people know what this game is about. There is a city in the background. It is most likely New York City. One of the things that comes to mind when you think of New York Is Wall Street, so to me it makes sense that this city would be New York. The Sky is blue. It has bright colors on it. Using bright colors attracts children. But this game is not just marketed towards children, because it says family game night on it. This game is meant for people of all ages to play. It also encourages spending time with your family.
