Sao Paulo: New Fashion Capital
As we all
may know, there are currently five fashion capitals in the world that receive the
most credit for setting worldwide trends and influencing popular styles. One of
these fashion capitals are the birth place of your favorite look and style. The
current top five fashion capitals are New York city, London, Mulan, Paris and
Los Angeles. However, there seems to be a new fashion capital that has made its
way on the list. This city has even become a potential contender in over taking
New York city’s position at number one. A small city in Brazil called Sao
Paulo, which is just south of Rio de Janeiro, is catching up to New York fairly
quickly. Sao Paulo is known as the fashion leader in all of South America and
hosts the fifth biggest fashion week in the world. This small city did not
begin to receive much recognition until this past summer when its neighbor city
Rio de Janeiro hosted the
2016 Olympics. The hosting of this event increased the popularity of Brazil’s sense
of fashion by media being drawn towards this country and acknowledging not only
the Olympics itself but all the attractions and cool facts about Brazil; the
style of Sao Paulo being one. The style of Sao Paulo is considered to be
vibrant, creative and full of attitude. It’s the unique culture and creativity
of the youth that differentiates their urban street style from the other
fashion capitals. International fashion designers such as Carlos Miele, Pedro Lourenco,
and Francisco Costa have admitted to being influenced and inspired by Sao Paulo
