03' Adolescence
In 2014, J. Cole released an album  called 2014 Forest Hills Drive. One of his most prize song in the album is 03' Adolescence and it inspired me to keep striving forward in life.To begin with, I had thought the whole message of that song was how he couldn't get the girl of his dream because he was to shy to express his true feelings to her and the fact that she only had one ideal type of man. A man that was highly famous and was an athlete. J.Cole wasn't no ball player and in fact the song begins with him saying he was a screw up. However, I dug deep into the lines he was rapping and realize the true meaning of his first verse.
            J. Cole message was that the girl was an metaphor. She was a metaphor of the rap game and that he couldn't reach his goal of becoming that famous rapper like he always have been dreaming about because he didn't have all the fancy clothes or jewelry. He wasn't outgoing like these other rappers was therefore nobody really never noticed him. The song continues with him not knowing his father and he wish that he did so they could of shared all the times they could of have. Furthermore, he was chilling with his friend and his friend was a drug dealer in school. His friend has absolutely no future unlike J. Cole who is going to be attending St. John University.
In addition, his friend was telling J. Cole how he looks up to him and that he shouldn't take the things he do have already for granted . J. Cole realize that he has a lot to be thankful for and that he dedicate everything to his mother who had his back all the time. In conclusion, I can relate to this whole song in some way, its my favorite song to listen to whenever.
